Sant Antoni Market & Sunday book market
📍 Sant Antoni · Free · About an hour
Graze the food stalls together, or on Sunday browse almost a hundred stalls of old books and collectibles. Picking a book for each other says a lot about a person.
Chosen for the time of day and today's weather. A new pick every day.
📍 Horta-GuinardóFree⏱ 1–2 hours, including the climb🕒 Morning or early afternoon
The whole city laid out in front of you, from the Sagrada Família to the sea. Sitting side by side with a view takes the pressure off talking.
Tip: Go by day: it's no longer a sunset spot. Bring water and something to share, and good shoes for the last steep bit.
Good to know: Open 09:00–19:30 until 30 September, and 09:00–17:30 from 1 October (closed outside these hours). The city has approved further access regulation; check before you go.
A calmer, prettier square in front of the church of Sant Joan, with traffic on one side only. Easy to hear each other, and the Verdi cinema is close by for a film afterwards.
Gaudí's mosaics and the view from the serpentine bench make it feel like an occasion. Better as a second or third date than a first.
Tip: Book ahead: slots sell out. You must enter within 30 minutes of your slot and can't re-enter.
Good to know: A timed ticket is needed for the whole park (€18 general, checked on the official site). Free for Barcelona residents who book a Passi Verd. Some paths are closed for works (update of 8 September 2026). Early morning and late evening are for residents only.
📍 El BornFree⏱ 30 minutes to a whole evening🕒 Evening
A medieval pedestrian street between the Gothic basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and the old Born market. Walk it slowly, then lose yourselves in the lanes around it for a glass of wine.
Big lawns for a picnic, the monumental waterfall, and a small lake with rowing boats. Easy to walk and talk, and El Born is right next door for a drink after.
Tip: Pick up bread, cheese and fruit at the Santa Caterina market on the way.
Good to know: Open every day from 07:00 until dusk.
📍 BarcelonetaFree⏱ As long as you like🕒 Sunrise or a warm evening
The city beach, a short walk from the old town: sea air, a long promenade and plenty of places to eat. The beach faces east, so it's a sunrise spot rather than a sunset one.
Good to know: Smoking is banned on Barcelona's beaches (except inside the seasonal beach bars).
A tree-lined, almost kilometre-long promenade that runs down to the sea. It feels like a village high street: terraces, ice cream, and the beach at the end.
📍 MontjuïcPaid entry⏱ About 2 hours🕒 Late afternoon
A fortress on top of Montjuïc with views over the port and the sea. Arrive by cable car and the journey becomes part of the date.
Tip: Tickets are sold online only, on the castle's own website.
Good to know: €12 general, €8 reduced (official site). Free every Sunday after 15:00 and all day on the first Sunday of the month. Open 10:00–20:00 from 1 March to 31 October and 10:00–18:00 from 1 November to 28 February (box office closes 30 minutes earlier).

Water, light and music on the steps below the National Palace. Free, a little cheesy in the best way, and easy to combine with dinner in Poble-sec.
Good to know: The summer season runs Wednesday–Sunday until 27 September 2026, with shows at 21:30 and 22:00. The autumn schedule wasn't published yet: check barcelona.cat.
